William Faulkner shows us tragedy of isolation. Probably pretty and polite woman for years get insane and becomes nuisance for her town. This history is also short horror. Faulkner gives us some touch of American gothic. He takes us deep in calamitous effects of lonelyness, crazy need for be loved and even Stockholm syndrome. This short story can stimulate our imagination more than the longest prose.
